It was established as a division of Halifax plc in 1999 by Jim Spowart, who helped establish other direct financial services firms including Direct Line.

Following a reorganisation of the HBOS group, it is now a division of Bank of Scotland plc.

IF’s registered headquarters are in Edinburgh, with customer service operations based in Scotland (Livingston, West Lothian, and Rosyth, Fife.

How many times can you use a contactless card in a day?

You can use a contactless card as many times as you want, there is no limit. The bank may ask you for a pin just to make sure it’s you.

 

How much can you spend on a contactless card?

From April 2020 the spending limit for contactless card payments will be increased from £30 to £45.
